Relief FAQ

Is the 15% pub relief the same as the 20% relief?

A separate 20% relief — which adds social clubs to pubs and live music venues — was announced by the Prime Minister's office. Keep the 15% pub/live-music relief and the 20% pubs-clubs-and-live-music figure distinct: they are not simply the same relief with a bigger number (Prime Minister's Office, 'Burnham means business').

Do hotels get the pub relief?

No. Hotels get no pub or live music venue relief in England, and are excluded from Wales’s 15% Food & Drink Hospitality Rates Relief.

Will a successful challenge actually reduce my bill?

Not always — see

is it worth appealing.

Does relief apply automatically?

Some reliefs apply automatically through your billing authority; others, like the Welsh Food & Drink Hospitality relief, must be claimed — see the

Wales relief page.
